Desert Horses

Welcome to my horse blog, Desert Horses. We live in the desert southwest, near Palm Springs, CA, but board our horses up in our local mountains where it is cooler in the summer. I have 4 horses, all rescues. Here is the ranch up the mountains where the horses stay.

Quad and water

We said hello to Quad the other day, but since then, it has either been too cold, too windy, or I've been too dehydrated to return to the ranch! Hubby and I went hiking Tuesday morning and didn't (DUH) take any water with us. It has taken us two days to recover! A two mile hike in the desert without water, I mean, what is WRONG with us? We know better. Unfortunately, we traded cars this week and hubby made me clean out my car (the one with WATER). So, when we headed out Tuesday morning, we didn't have any water with us and we took a two mile hike AND it was warm! Needless to say, both of us were dehydrated and came home and drank and drank and drank water! Today we are driving through Joshua Tree National Park and my backpack is now packed with plenty of water! Tomorrow morning I'll drive up to the horse ranch and then out to meet my cousin on the trails in the desert. Believe me, I'll have plenty of water with me. I have to remember that we aren't 29 years old any more and take plenty of water from now on!!!
