Desert Horses

Welcome to my horse blog, Desert Horses. We live in the desert southwest, near Palm Springs, CA, but board our horses up in our local mountains where it is cooler in the summer. I have 4 horses, all rescues. Here is the ranch up the mountains where the horses stay.

Horse lesson~Scout

I don't know how my trainer does it...she gets through all the horses every week!  Sunni just got let out into the round pen and arena this week because of the wind.  No sense having him have another meltdown!

She always works Scout first.  If she doesn't, Scout gets VERY UPSET!  (and jealous)...So, Scout is the first one out.  Maia takes her down to the arena first to get out some of that mustang energy!  She's a whole lot easier to work with after that, believe me!  Might as well let her get out, run, and roll!!!
Then, on to the serious stuff...she gets saddled and lunged in the arena.  She does well now with all her verbal commands.  Doesn't she look good in her saddle?
