Desert Horses

Welcome to my horse blog, Desert Horses. We live in the desert southwest, near Palm Springs, CA, but board our horses up in our local mountains where it is cooler in the summer. I have 4 horses, all rescues. Here is the ranch up the mountains where the horses stay.

Tagged~~family dinner photo

I was tagged a while ago by Linda over at http://beautifulmustang.blogspot.com/. This is the first time I've actually had the time to go to the 6th folder, 6th photo and take a look.

I was sure it would be a photo of the horses, since most of my photos are of them, but I was pleasantly surprised to find this photo of an outdoor family dinner last October! Yup. Artichokes for dinner, along with chicken and steak, portabello mushrooms, a salad, and garlic bread. Yum, yum! There's hubby and James, our daughter's fiance. We love to eat outdoors during the spring and fall and now that the time has changed, I'm sure we'll start eating outdoors and turning on the bbq! We have a new outdoor table with 6 chairs that hubby bought last spring on sale. I'm going to have to think about who to tag this afternoon. Gotta run now! I wasn't late yesterday morning, but almost! It's hard to get going when it is still dark!

Wow! What a great dinner!! You guys eat good. I've never had actual artichokes at a meal. How do you eat them?!?

We like to stuff them with fresh garlic. You wash them, pour some olive oil in between the leaves, stuff them with the garlic, maybe sprinkle on some salt or Lawry's, then cook them in a big pot for about 45 minutes. I'll never forget the time a friend from England came over for dinner...she had NO idea what to do with them. Some people cut off the stickers at the end of leaves...we just eat them carefully! You can dip them in either butter or mayo. We flavor our mayo with Chulula pepper sauce...yummy! Figure one artichoke per person!
