Desert Horses

Welcome to my horse blog, Desert Horses. We live in the desert southwest, near Palm Springs, CA, but board our horses up in our local mountains where it is cooler in the summer. I have 4 horses, all rescues. Here is the ranch up the mountains where the horses stay.

Late afternoon antics~~the way to end a day!

Hubby and I drove up to see the horses yesterday afternoon. It was late in the afternoon before we even got there, but with the time change, we now have the opportunity to visit them while it is still light. I LOVE the long afternoon shadows! The horses LOVE gettint out in the afternoon and Sunni and Beauty had a romp in the arena in the afternoon shadows. My husband gave me his old Olympus zoom lens camera which has a faster recovery rate than any of my other current cameras and I was able to capture some of the action for the first time! They enjoyed their afternoon in the arena and finally settled down to eat the weeds! Since these are are the two horses hubby and I will be trail riding, it's always fun to see how they interact. What a great way to end the day~and I sure enjoyed using the camera! It has the widest range of any of my cameras and even though it is several years old, it takes crisp and clear photos! It's an Olympus E-10 (4 megapixel) 35mm-140mm. But, I'm a real fan of Olympus and I love how crisp and clear the photos are! Even though this camera is 9 years old, look at the clarity! Here's a link to a website that shows its specifications: http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/specs/Olympus/oly_e10.asp While I'm still waiting for the new camera, it's fun to experiment with other ones.

With spring starting today you will see more fun antics. Maybe you will join in the fun. I remember in my much younger days I would run in the pasture in my horse, she liked to play tag.
