Desert Horses

Welcome to my horse blog, Desert Horses. We live in the desert southwest, near Palm Springs, CA, but board our horses up in our local mountains where it is cooler in the summer. I have 4 horses, all rescues. Here is the ranch up the mountains where the horses stay.

Cali gets a SPA DAY!

Yes, she did! Molly helped me SO MUCH the other day! That's a picture of Molly and me! Molly lives nearby out here in the desert and we emailed each other and decided to have a "horse day!" She's a fellow blogger (http://holamole.blogspot.com/) It was so nice to have another set of hands! We took Cali down to the wash rack, tied her (she hardly moved)! Molly brushed out her mane and tail and then we washed her. Aaaaaahhhhhhhhhh!!!! A day at the spa....it felt so good! She didn't even roll afterwards! (she usually just drops to the ground and rolls after getting wet!). She is so friendly and gentle! GOOD GIRL! And, THANK YOU, Molly, for helping out!

Cali is GORGEOUS, Cheryl! Did you dry her really well? I've found that not only does Panama enjoy a vigorous towel drying afterward, but it also makes him less likely to roll. Another trick I have is to distract him with food or grazing until he has a chance to dry. :o)
