Welcome to my horse blog, Desert Horses. We live in the desert southwest, near Palm Springs, CA, but board our horses up in our local mountains where it is cooler in the summer. I have 4 horses, all rescues. Here is the ranch up the mountains where the horses stay.

New digs in August


New digs! We moved our horses closer to our home in August. Now they are just 30 min. away, instead of 2 1/2 HOURS! YES! Can you believe it?
Here they are in their corral. Gigondas has her own "mare motel" now. We decided she needed a break from the others. She was herd leader and having all 5 of them together in one pen was hard on all of them. They were thin and Sunni and the babies were constantly being forced off their food. Soon, Beauty would go to my cousin's ranch for training, but here they are together. They love their new ranch and so do we! No more feeding them on the ground! Look at the hay feeder!
