Desert Horses

Welcome to my horse blog, Desert Horses. We live in the desert southwest, near Palm Springs, CA, but board our horses up in our local mountains where it is cooler in the summer. I have 4 horses, all rescues. Here is the ranch up the mountains where the horses stay.

Wilco

I didn't get up to the ranch today. My friend called me and told me she was sick. Our daughter and son-in-law both ended up in urgent care...she with bronchitis and he with larangytis. And, the ranch owners were leaving for a family get-together, so I'll drive up in the morning. I stayed home and ran errands here in the valley. Went for a LONG morning walk (1 1/2 hours) and then walked up at the mountain visitor center for another half hour. Phew! I wore myself out! Here's a picture of Wilco. Wilco used to live with Ben, Hal, and Claudia, but they are too busy for any dogs (we have the Weimeraner), so Wilco went to live with Jennifer & James. Isn't he ADORABLE?

He sure is adorable. The hubby was telling me just yesterday that I need to go out and do a little more walking around the farm now that the weather is half way decent!

Wilco is adorable. He reminds me of Val's little Buddha.
Speaking of Val, one of the out of control dogs that caused Scout to flip over backwards was a Weimeraner. The lady claims she can't train any of her dogs because they don't listen to her. They once went after my two llamas and kept trying to jump on them and bite their legs.....while I was trying to keep them on their leads without running me over. And that stupid lady owner thought her dogs "playing" with my llamas was CUTE!
These are the same dogs that caused Baby Doll to bolt a couple years ago when they ran up behind us. That was very scary and could have caused a huge wreck had I not remembered the one rein stop!

And after Val fell off Scout yesterday, and she was laying there in pain, the dogs jumped on her and licked her and chewed on her. The owner didn't do anything to call her dogs off and probably thought it was cute. bah!
