Desert Horses

Welcome to my horse blog, Desert Horses. We live in the desert southwest, near Palm Springs, CA, but board our horses up in our local mountains where it is cooler in the summer. I have 4 horses, all rescues. Here is the ranch up the mountains where the horses stay.

Cali last spring

The horses are currently shedding out. Beauty is a mess and I NEED to get up and brush her when the wind isn't blowing over 40 mph like it was yesterday! Last night was horrible here and we lost a huge branch of our Chinaberry tree. Trees are down all over the city and I may run out later and take some pics. Cali's summer coat is now showing and I need to brush her! The vet is coming today, braving the winds, to give the herd their shots. I'll have to drive up the mountain in the wind and the forecast is for 65 mph winds until noon! YIKES! I'm hoping that by 1:00, the winds calm down, but this spring break has been very unusual. It's ALWAYS nice and warm by now and the high today will be 65 in the desert and 55 in the mountains! Anyway, here's Cali from last spring! She's a fuzzy wuzzy right now, but I did see her summer coat yesterday. MAYBE this weekend I'll be able to brush them!

With 65 mph winds, you better be careful!
Great shots!

She is so beautiful. What an amazing day it must have been when you brought her home.
