Desert Horses

Welcome to my horse blog, Desert Horses. We live in the desert southwest, near Palm Springs, CA, but board our horses up in our local mountains where it is cooler in the summer. I have 4 horses, all rescues. Here is the ranch up the mountains where the horses stay.

Gigondas learns to walk!

Gigiondas has always loved to run, but getting her to walk has been difficult! So, my cousin came over on Tuesday and gave her a lesson on walking. Here are some pics:
Finally, here is a photo of what Gigondas thought of the whole thing...."Pffffffftttttttt!" She did very well and she will need more training on "walk", but for her first real lesson, we both were very pleased with her progress. She is very smart and wants to please!
Valerie, my cousin, moved her horses back down to the desert this week as it is getting too cold for her up in the mountains.

She is looking really good! I think that series is one of the few of her moving at anything less than a run-seems like she is always going full tilt :)

You are so right! She is ALWAYS going full out! It was unusual to see her actually walking, although she did want to trot. Valerie immediately corrected her and she went back to walking! It will take a LOT of lessons for her to walk, though! She will probably NOT be the horse for me to ride, with my back, but great for hubby! That's okay...I still love her!
