Desert Horses

Welcome to my horse blog, Desert Horses. We live in the desert southwest, near Palm Springs, CA, but board our horses up in our local mountains where it is cooler in the summer. I have 4 horses, all rescues. Here is the ranch up the mountains where the horses stay.

Dapples!

Scout's coat is constantly changing throughout the year, but I noticed yesterday that she actually has dapples! I do feed them ground flax seed and their sweet feed also has some, but this is the first time I've actually noticed Scout with dapples! What do 'ya think? She also wouldn't LEAVE ME ALONE, which is why I never got any good pics yesterday!

I do love those dapples. So pretty.
Does flax seed somehow bring them out better?

I think so. Even when I give flax to my gelding, and he's pretty dark, HE gets dapples, too!
