Desert Horses

Welcome to my horse blog, Desert Horses. We live in the desert southwest, near Palm Springs, CA, but board our horses up in our local mountains where it is cooler in the summer. I have 4 horses, all rescues. Here is the ranch up the mountains where the horses stay.

Indian Summer

You know, here in the desert, we don't really have Indian summer. But, we do notice that summer is ending. There are long afternoon shadows, the sun sets further to the north, and the days are shorter. I LOVE driving up to the mountains during Indian summer. There is a lovely yellowish cast to afternoon light. Hubby took these photos in Utah a couple of Septembers ago. I wanted to share them with you (even if I didn't get to go along with him on that trip!)...That was the trip that I stayed home and adopted Beauty and Gigondas. Anyway, enjoy the scenery!

Oh, and I returned to school today. HA! Half of my class now has the sniffles, cough, and runny noses! And sore throats! EGADS! What did I walk into? I sure hope that the honey works and I stay healthy!

I don't know what grade you teach, but perhaps you can add "manuka honey" and "lemon" to this week's spelling list. ;)
