Desert Horses

Welcome to my horse blog, Desert Horses. We live in the desert southwest, near Palm Springs, CA, but board our horses up in our local mountains where it is cooler in the summer. I have 4 horses, all rescues. Here is the ranch up the mountains where the horses stay.

Framing a photo~Mosquito Lake~Sunday Stills Challenge 070410

We stopped by Mosquito Lake this afternoon on our way back from Markleyville, which is just south of Lake Tahoe, CA. We took the Kit Carson trail, now a road, from Folsom to Markleyville, and Route 4 back. This beautiful lake had snow still in spots all around it and I stopped to frame this shot using two pine trees on either side. Sunday Stills Challenge for July 4, 2010. Could you tell the story behind the name

Gail, I don't know the story behind its name. We had never been through this particular area before! There were a lot of fishermen and women here at this lake, however!
