Desert Horses

Welcome to my horse blog, Desert Horses. We live in the desert southwest, near Palm Springs, CA, but board our horses up in our local mountains where it is cooler in the summer. I have 4 horses, all rescues. Here is the ranch up the mountains where the horses stay.

Mountain sunset~SkyWatch Friday~072012

We were up in the mountains at a friend's house last night.  I took a walk before dinner, admiring the mountains and the sky.  It was nice to be able to get out of the desert heat and enjoy the coolness of the mountains.  Once the sun set, the temps dropped a lot!  We actually looked up and saw the Milky Way last night.  Scorpio also was out.  To visit SkyWatch Friday, please go to:   http://skyley.blogspot.com/  Yes, this was taken in Pinyon, which is on the way to Idyllwild.

Very beautiful photo, I wonder if you were in the San Jacinto / Idyllwild area? That's one of my fave places to be.

Makes me think of the two tall old growth trees on the ridge of Goat Island in front of our cabin. They rise well above the surround forest and can be seen distinctly from a long distance. Love the colours in your sky. - Margy
