Desert Horses

Welcome to my horse blog, Desert Horses. We live in the desert southwest, near Palm Springs, CA, but board our horses up in our local mountains where it is cooler in the summer. I have 4 horses, all rescues. Here is the ranch up the mountains where the horses stay.

Leo Carrillo state park and barn~Barn Charm~070212

Hubby and I drove to the beach this weekend to get out of the desert heat.  We arrived at the Leo Carrillo state park, which was a working ranch, 15 minutes before they closed on Sunday.  Unfortunately they were closed Monday and we are leaving today to return to the desert.  But, we had 15 minutes to go exploring.  Hubby went one way and I headed down toward the stables.  This is a beautiful example of the Spanish influence in old California.  I peeked inside the stables and the stalls were quite roomy and cool.  The adobe buildings are really quite comfortable and this one received the ocean breezes.  Ahhhh....to have lived in that time!  Barn Charm for July 2, 2012.  To visit Barn Charm, please go to:   http://bluffareadaily.blogspot.com/
