Desert Horses

Welcome to my horse blog, Desert Horses. We live in the desert southwest, near Palm Springs, CA, but board our horses up in our local mountains where it is cooler in the summer. I have 4 horses, all rescues. Here is the ranch up the mountains where the horses stay.

Ahhhhh....the joy of being alive~Sunni

This was Sunni yesterday down in the arena. Such joy! Such energy! He pretty much exercises himself down there. He'll run around and around and around it, then stop to eat weeds! I didn't get up to the ranch today. Yesterday apparently was too much for my old, tired, sick body. Today I woke up with a body ache and with a headache. Plus, it was dark and cloudy and possibly raining up on the mountain, so I stayed indoors all day in my pajamas! ACK!
And, with a classroom full of coughing and sneezing third graders, I needed a day to just rest and veg. I seem to be coughing more today than I have been in some time, so I'm hoping that I'm not getting a relapse of my bronchitis.

He looks like he's having lots of fun there. Sorry you're sick!

Fun photos of Sunni!

I wish I had my camera with me today when I let Apache out of her stall for some exercise during the storm. She galloped out full steam, bucking and swinging her head. When she got down to the fence we share with Val's horses, they came running up to her and she was prancing and then reared up a few times. Wow! I had no idea she could do that still. I was told she reared when ridden before I bought her( of which I now know was due to her overgrown teeth), but she's never tried to rear with me. She really surprised me today.
She looked great though, and rolled in the snow over and over again.
And then she galloped back up to me so she could get back into her stall again for dinner. lol!
