Desert Horses

Welcome to my horse blog, Desert Horses. We live in the desert southwest, near Palm Springs, CA, but board our horses up in our local mountains where it is cooler in the summer. I have 4 horses, all rescues. Here is the ranch up the mountains where the horses stay.

Busy weekend!

Phew! Why do the weekends go by so quickly, while the work week goes by so S-L-O-W-L-Y? Hmmm.....Anyway, Saturday hubby and I drove up to check on the herd. The ranch owners were gone, so we just checked their water, gave them some sweet feed, and I worked with Scout for about 20 minutes in her corral. She is much quicker now to respond to my body commands! Cali was looking good and is nearly completely shed out of her winter coat. It is interesting to see Scout. In winter, she is a darker brown, but as summer comes, she gets lighter. We had a family dinner with our son's family Saturday night. Little Ben is now standing for a few seconds on his own and he walked yesterday! Then, yesterday morning we had brunch with my aunt & uncle in their new house in Sun City. They are completely moved in and loving the desert mornings. And, last night, we ate dinner with our daughter and son-in-law. Hal stopped by and said that Ben took his first steps Sunday! It was a good weekend...busy...but good! 27 more days of school and then...FREEDOM!

I have the same observation. I think weekdays are at least 36 hours long.

Glad you had some time with the herd!
