Desert Horses

Welcome to my horse blog, Desert Horses. We live in the desert southwest, near Palm Springs, CA, but board our horses up in our local mountains where it is cooler in the summer. I have 5 horses, all rescues. Here is the ranch up the mountains where the horses stay, October, 2014. The roses are blooming!

Oops! Quad shows some 'tude!!!

Maia, my trainer, thought Quad was ready to do his lesson yesterday down in the arena, so down they went. She was lunging Quad when all of a sudden, he blew up. I'm surprised that I caught it on my camera! It happened so quickly! He was trotting nicely when he suddenly bucked. And bucked. And bucked again. She thinks he took a deep breath and hit the cinch and it startled him. But, he quickly calmed down and continued his lesson.

Aerial horse! He looks calm enough in the last photo.

I can see why she's just doing ground work now. Or has she ridden him yet? Is she doing ground driving?

I had that happen quite a few times with Cole over the winter when I was lounging him. Somehow, after seeing that, I still managed to climb up and ride--and he would be fine, too.

I think that sometimes they just need to let off a little emotions.

Woohooo! Rodeo moment! Good thing he gets that all out of his system before he has a rider. eeep! Awesome action photos!
He looks handsome in any saddle, but I really do prefer him in an English saddle, I think.

Those are great pictures!! Just what I needed to see. Somehow seeing that bolsters my confidence a bit.

Yep, he's just feeling good :) Gotta throw a few bucks in there :) We lunge most of our horses before we ride, and when we don't, we get a ride like that going out. It's always entertaining!
He sure is pretty :) I'll come ride him for you!
