Desert Horses

Welcome to my horse blog, Desert Horses. We live in the desert southwest, near Palm Springs, CA, but board our horses up in our local mountains where it is cooler in the summer. I have 4 horses, all rescues. Here is the ranch up the mountains where the horses stay.

Virgin River, Zion National Park~Watery Wednesday for June 23, 2010

As our temperatures here in the desert are rising up to 108 degrees today, I think back to this river, the Virgin River, which runs through Zion National Park. It was so cool next to it! And, shady! Phew! I stayed home yesterday because our daughter and son-in-law delivered our new bed. What a difference a bed makes for my back! No more saggy mattress! My aunt and uncle traded us their brand new king size bed for twin beds, so we inherited theirs. By the time I huffed and puffed and took out the old mattress and bed springs and installed the new one, I was DONE for the day! I will be driving up to the horse ranch this morning! FINALLY!!! Watery Wednesday for June 23, 2010.

A few years back, we hiked The Narrows, the water hike through this river, from top to bottom. On a hot, hot day it's the coolest hike in town - with wildflowers cascading down the rocks in parts of this narrow canyon. :)

Sleep well, my dear. The new bed sounds marvy.
