I'm always amazed by how my five horses react to different people. As I discussed yesterday, my friend Susan came up with me yesterday to help out with "the herd" (as I affectionately call the 5 of them!). Susan is used to being around horses and training them and she talks and talks to them all! Her voice is very soothing. Heck, I'd cock my leg, too, and let her brush my hair! It was interesting to watch her brush and groom and talk to Gigondas. Gigo even let Susan touch her head and rub her around her eyes! GAWK! That's real progress! And, Quad, of course, was the perfect gentleman and let Susan groom him and even pick up one foot! YEAH! She even wandered over to Sunni, my skittish quarter horse, and had a nice, long talk with him and he snuggled right up to her! So, I did a lot of watching and looking Sunday. Look how "hands-on" Susan is! She's very comfortable around the herd. My son is very comfortable around the horses and they all love him, but my daughter...uh-uh. She is very shy around horses and they sense that. "They're TOO BIG!" she says! I understand how some people go through "horse withdrawal". If I don't see mine for about a week, I start to go through "herd withdrawal" and I get a real urge to be with them. With summer vacation starting in FOUR DAYS, I'll have plenty of horse time this summer. I can hardly wait! Here are some more pics from Sunday. That's My World for Tuesday, June 8, 2010.
