Desert Horses

Welcome to my horse blog, Desert Horses. We live in the desert southwest, near Palm Springs, CA, but board our horses up in our local mountains where it is cooler in the summer. I have 4 horses, all rescues. Here is the ranch up the mountains where the horses stay.

Cali's shower

It was hot up at the ranch yesterday morning and by 10:30 a.m., I was ready to drive home and sit in the air conditioning all day! I'll drive up to the horses this afternoon, when it starts to cool down. I did buy dog food at the feed store and our dogs have been most appreciative! While I was up at the ranch yesterday, I cleaned out the mustangs' water trough and sprayed them with the hose. Scout ran off, but Cali stood still and turned her butt to the water. She enjoyed her shower! Of course, she immediately rolled in the dirt and was covered with dirt and dust and manure!

Crazy temps your way, Cheryl!! We've had a long Spring--still cool--lots of rain. I don't know which is worse. Nice of you to spray them--sure they appreciate it! I love the looks of your bbq below, btw.
