Desert Horses

Welcome to my horse blog, Desert Horses. We live in the desert southwest, near Palm Springs, CA, but board our horses up in our local mountains where it is cooler in the summer. I have 4 horses, all rescues. Here is the ranch up the mountains where the horses stay.

Sunday Stills Challenge~Favorite Photos 2009

Ed, you've GOT to be kidding! Okay. My desktop is now up and running and I have access to my 2009 photos, but...oye vei! Which ones to pick? With five horses, there are so many!!! Here are two that I really like and I'm sure I've posted them before, but here goes! They may not be the best, but they are among my favorites. The bottom on is Gigondas, after taking a roll in the dust, on an autumn afternoon last year. I like how you can see the dust and her silhouette. And, of course, Quad is the top photo. Here he was in fall, too, looking out upon his new home. Quad came to us from TB Friends and we are so thankful to have him, especially after the loss of Beauty. He is a real gem and I love him more and more every day! Sunday Stills Challenge for January 10, 2010.

Yes, those are both great choices. I really like the dust and sunshine photo!

Great photos. I have to agree with gtyyup, the dust silhouette photo is very striking. Quad, of course, is always one of my favorite photo subjects.

Great photos - the one of Quad really captures his personality, and the dust/sunlight one is really cool!

neat shot with the sunlight and dust, as if the horse is in fog.
