Desert Horses

Welcome to my horse blog, Desert Horses. We live in the desert southwest, near Palm Springs, CA, but board our horses up in our local mountains where it is cooler in the summer. I have 4 horses, all rescues. Here is the ranch up the mountains where the horses stay.

Desert fog

If you haven't heard the news, our desert is now in its third storm this week. Our first one was Monday and Tuesday morning, when the clouds moved to the east, we awoke to fog. Now, we don't normally have fog in our desert. I can count maybe 5 times in 36 years that we've had fog, so I grabbed my camera and looked outside. Aren't the palm trees eerie in the fog? These three storms are bringing us our YEARLY rainfall total in less than a week! My front yard and back yard are completely saturated and there are large puddles of standing water. The ground just can't absorb any more rain!

Wow, fog in the desert--I would have never thought it possible. I have heard about all the rain--and they say there is more to come. It must be very strange for you!

Fogis rare here, too, but more common than where you are. I'd have expected smog or smoke over fog. lol!

Cool photos!
