Desert Horses

Welcome to my horse blog, Desert Horses. We live in the desert southwest, near Palm Springs, CA, but board our horses up in our local mountains where it is cooler in the summer. I have 4 horses, all rescues. Here is the ranch up the mountains where the horses stay.

Mountain fog~SkyWatch Friday 121809

From our desert home, I always check the mountains before leaving. Sometimes there are "spillover" clouds. That means the clouds have moved up to our local mountains and are spilling over to the desert side, from the ocean side. It can be perfectly clear here in the desert, but, on my way to see the horses, at the ranch in the mountains, I often run right into these clouds in the form of fog, as in these photos. I enjoy the fog as we don't get it in the desert and I always enjoy the changing weather on the mountain. SkyWatch Friday December 18, 2009. Last day of school and then two weeks off! Believe me, the kids are READY for vacation!!!

I love fog, too, although we get it often enough! There's something mysterious and magical about the fog.

The fog is lovely in small doses, if you don't have to drive in it. We are now in "tule fog" season and may well live in our "Brigadoon" world for six weeks. That is a bit too much fog and I don't look forward to it.

Wow, that second shot is so dramatic!

What interesting high fog over your lovely desert landscape! I always enjoy seeing your horses too. I've shared reflected warm beach sunset views taken this past week at Happily Retired Gal and the 'real views' at Sacred Ruminations this week.
Hugs and blessings,
