Desert Horses

Welcome to my horse blog, Desert Horses. We live in the desert southwest, near Palm Springs, CA, but board our horses up in our local mountains where it is cooler in the summer. I have 4 horses, all rescues. Here is the ranch up the mountains where the horses stay.

Geese~Weekend Reflections~December 12, 2009

I love the desert this time of year. Every morning I drive 25 miles to my school and along the way, I enjoy the sights in the desert. Yesterday I spotted a rainbow. Sometime I'll have to share them with you, but today I'm posting this photo I took Thursday morning. I had no Internet at home, so I grabbed my camera and drove to work early so I had time to stop and take pics. Along the way, I pulled into the Shadow Ridge Marriott because they have a delightful lake there and it's a good spot to see the sunrises. There were two flocks of geese there, this one which was close to me, and another one at the far side of the lake. These geese didn't spook or fly away, but the other flock did and I caught them with my camera as they fly by and posted that on another blog for SkyWatch Friday. This flock remained calm in spite of gardeners driving by and me. Our desert country clubs and large hotels frequently are visited by Canadian geese. In fact, my husband told me that the hotel where he works had a Border collie a couple of years ago, to chase off the geese, but the collie didn't do its job and now has a new home! Weekend Reflections for December 12, 2009.

Fascinating the way the geese are lined up on the shore. Your photo is "painterly." Very nicely done.

I saw the spooked geese for SWF, Cheryl Ann. This is a good shot, too. The reflections are so very clear and I do like the sharp line of the curve of the lake.

Glad to see Canada Geese as to me they are a lovely bird although I know others tire of them.
