Desert Horses

Welcome to my horse blog, Desert Horses. We live in the desert southwest, near Palm Springs, CA, but board our horses up in our local mountains where it is cooler in the summer. I have 4 horses, all rescues. Here is the ranch up the mountains where the horses stay.

I'm a GRANDMA!

YES! The little guy was born at 11:17 last night! 6 pounds, 6 ounces, a full head of dark hair! Claudia went in for a routine doctor's appointment and the doctor said, "You better get to the hospital and check in!" I got there at 6:30 and he was born at 11:17! Isn't that a short labor for the first child? I never had labor as I had two c-sections! Our daughter stayed with me and I knew the birth was imminent when the doctor RUSHED in and was barely suited up and he came into the world! Man, that was fast! Claudia gave birth in her room (I guess that's how they do it nowadays)! There were 3 emergency c-sections last night, so the maternity ward was unusually busy! Oh, and he was born on my husband's BIRTHDAY! So, it will be a double birthday! I missed being born on my dear grandmother's birthday by 3 days! We always celebrated our birthdays together! The photos I took last night were awful, so I've included some of the horses announcing the good news!

Congratulations!
That was a short labor. I had 2 C sections as well but I had to go through the labor on top of it.

I figured it WAS a short labor! I mean, the doctor barely made it there in time! Bop! Out he popped! I'll head out this morning to try to get some decent photos of the little guy. The parents are still arguing over baby names!

Congratulations, Grandma! That is very fotunate that Claudia had to be told that she was in labor. Most of us think we are in labor and have to be told otherwise.

Congratulations!! What exciting news! And how cool is that to be born on your husband's birthday....=)

When our daughter was born, she was a fast labor. I went into labor at 6pm and she was born at 10:20pm. She was considered a first labor since I had never gone into labor with our son, but had an emergency c-section.

Love the photos of the horses announcing the birth....=)
