Desert Horses

Welcome to my horse blog, Desert Horses. We live in the desert southwest, near Palm Springs, CA, but board our horses up in our local mountains where it is cooler in the summer. I have 4 horses, all rescues. Here is the ranch up the mountains where the horses stay.

Dad and his girl, Gigo

I love working with Gigondas. She is so smart! She CAN be unpredictable, which is why I always wear my gloves when handling her! Uh, huh. I've had one too many rope burns from her when she decides to pull back. But, she does know her commands, although we are still working on "come". After her workout, she ran and ran in the arena and then came up to hubby for some scratches and lovin'! The two of them have a special relationship. She always comes up to him when she's ready to return to her corral. She helps HIM lower his blood pressure! Can you see him rubbing her neck and head? I'm glad they have their special relationship!

That is really neat that she has a special relationship with your husband - it's probably good for both of them!

Gotta love those redhead firecrackers, they pick the person they want to love.

It's wonderful to have that special relationship. You just wonder if we lower their blood pressure too. Probably after a romp in the arena.
