We stopped by the Ridgecrest BLM corrals early Sunday morning before we drove home. It was chilly up there and the hay tractor was out delivering hay to the mustangs. There were a couple of corrals where the horses hadn't been fed yet and they were eager for carrots!~ Imagine that? The mares and pregnant mares were very friendly, while the stallions, in the bottom pic, refused to come near us. Apparently the Ridgecrest BLM just ended its roundup recently, so many of the horses don't know what carrots are. BUT, some sure did! That's hubby being mobbed by the mares. Here are some pics from our morning with the mustangs...ABC Wednesday for October 14, 2009.

Just look at the variety of coat colors! Every one of them is special.
Got me! Do love the horses! What great shots of the Mustangs!
Have a great day!

That's pretty good that they came to the fence for you guys. I visit the Palomino Valley BLM branch every once in a while, and those Mustangs stay as far away from people as possible.
The 8th picture down is wonderful. The mare with her ears back and showing her teeth and tongue is adorable. All the pics are good but that is my favorite. Good for you giving them carrots!
Looks like one of the mares is getting p*ssed cuz he's handing the carrots down low and she definitely wants one! lol And isn't that just like men, hanging out together - probably talking sports! lol
Beautiful!
I dunno. I prefer the legs shot myself; a different angle.
That's cool that you could stop by and feed them carrots--get them used to humans.
Special mustangs! Great pictures!
