Desert Horses

Welcome to my horse blog, Desert Horses. We live in the desert southwest, near Palm Springs, CA, but board our horses up in our local mountains where it is cooler in the summer. I have 4 horses, all rescues. Here is the ranch up the mountains where the horses stay.

Quad is feeling much better! Update!

Phew! Quad is finally feeling better on his feet! Poor baby~he's been hobbling around. Our vet came out and said, "Yup, they trimmed him too much," so we haven't been doing much with him. But this week we finally took him over to the arena for a stretch. He walked gingerly the whole way, and walked around the arena sniffing all the manure piles, and he even gave a little buck! Then he remembered, "Oh, darn! OUCH!" Silly boy! So, yesterday hubby and I carefully walked him down to the arena and after walking around a little bit, he gave another little buck and actually felt good! He got down and gave himself a good dirt bath and a roll! That's good to see! He is such a wonderful, gentle horse! We would like him to fell good all over! Doesn't he look like he is having a good time?

I love it when horses have fun. I had a shoer that trimmed Sissy's feet to short....Once and then twice. I do not use him anymore. So sad because actually he is an awesome shoer, and it is his side kick he is training that is doing the to short of shoeing.
