Desert Horses

Welcome to my horse blog, Desert Horses. We live in the desert southwest, near Palm Springs, CA, but board our horses up in our local mountains where it is cooler in the summer. I have 4 horses, all rescues. Here is the ranch up the mountains where the horses stay.

Joe's got a NEW BABY!!!!

Just a quick update....Joe at TB Friends has a new baby! One of the Mexican rodeo tripping horses, a 20 year old SKINNY mare, gave birth last night to a filly. Joe and Cathy didn't even know she was pregnant! SURPRISE! The mare's name is Snickers (see her ribs and scars?) and here is her little Snickeroo!!! Isn't she CUTE? If you wish to make a donation for her care, just go to Joe's website (http://www.tbfriends.com/) for his address. I'm sending a little check for their care today. Just look at that precious face!

I couldn't believe it when I read it! The great thing is that Joe wormed her and vaccinated her the night before - so the filly is off to a good start already. What a shock that would be to walk out to. I get freaked out when someone knocks down a fence rail - imagine finding a foal.

Snickeroo is a cute little snickerdoodle! Amazing that a 20 year old mare gave birth! Does that equate to a 60 year old woman?
