Desert Horses

Welcome to my horse blog, Desert Horses. We live in the desert southwest, near Palm Springs, CA, but board our horses up in our local mountains where it is cooler in the summer. I have 4 horses, all rescues. Here is the ranch up the mountains where the horses stay, October, 2015. That's Scout in the arena.

Overnight to Yuma

Hubby, who has been working for 12 days straight, was home early Saturday afternoon and announced, "Let's drive to Yuma overnight!"  Yuma?  REALLY?  So, I said "okay" and off we went.  We traveled down the western side of the Salton Sea, past Salton City, and various other garden spots, until we hit Imperial County, Winterhaven, and Holtville.  We did turn off in Salton City to take in a view of the sea, but it smelled so badly that we weren't there long.  Here are a few pics from that scenic garden spot:

Ha ha! Has he been to Yuma before? I haven't. He sounds like the way my husband used to be. He'd pressure me to drop everything I was doing to go on impulse trips. I'm glad I went, though, because travel always carries special memories and I don't travel all that much anymore.

Yup. Completely spur of the moment! I didn't even know he was home. I was at the tax accountant's office and there he was when I returned! :-)
