The ranch where I board my horses. That's Sunni in the arena, February 2016.
Desert Horses
Welcome to my horse blog, Desert Horses. We live in the desert southwest, near Palm Springs, CA, but board our horses up in our local mountains where it is cooler in the summer. I have 4 horses, all rescues. Here is the ranch up the mountains where the horses stay.

Something on the hill near Temecula!
No, it's not real. It's one of the metal sculptures on Highway 79, on the road to Temecula. But, at one time, there was a herd of wild horses in Anza. They are all gone now...
So very sad to hear that the wild horse herd is gone...we still have them in the eastern half of the state (Oregon), but the cattle ranchers and the BLM seem to be doing their best at eliminating them. It is a crying shame, and they quote their reasons, but the numbers are dropping rapidly and there's way too many being held in long-term holding facilities. There has to be a better way. My Eagle, was a born wild Mustang. He came from the Warm Springs HMA, south of Burns, OR. He is a gloriously beautiful, stout, intelligent and LOVING horse!! I am in love and in awe of him. I cannot say enough good things about these magnificent horses.
