Desert Horses

Welcome to my horse blog, Desert Horses. We live in the desert southwest, near Palm Springs, CA, but board our horses up in our local mountains where it is cooler in the summer. I have 4 horses, all rescues. Here is the ranch up the mountains where the horses stay.

Prescott, AZ

Hubby and I are over in Arizona for a few days during spring break.  Yesterday we drove out to Lynx Lake.  We checked out both the south and north views and then drove further down the road, where we saw these mailboxes.  We drove back and stopped at the Lynx Lake pueblo, which was a 1.5 round trip trail.  WHAT was I thinking?  I hobbled around on my sore knee to the point that on the way back, I had to sit for a few minutes.  Fortunately whoever made the trail thought ahead and planted benches every now and then!  The views from the pueblo were outstanding.  We could see all around Prescott.  There wasn't much left of the adobe, however...just some piles of rocks.  I'm glad we did the trail, but I learned I have to be careful coming down steps and I can't step up the way I used to.  I also bought a wide-rimmed hat in Prescott which is SPF 50 because my face got sunburned yesterday!

Do you ever go for road trips around California? hehe! Your heart must be in Arizona. :)

You really should get yourself some hiking poles if you don't have them already. Ever since my ACL surgery, I don't do any hiking without my poles. Sometimes I don't even use them, but I have them for the steep sections, especially downhill and stairs. It's a peace of mind thing most of all.

I love that last photo. Makes me want to jump in and take a hike down that trail.
