Desert Horses

Welcome to my horse blog, Desert Horses. We live in the desert southwest, near Palm Springs, CA, but board our horses up in our local mountains where it is cooler in the summer. I have 4 horses, all rescues. Here is the ranch up the mountains where the horses stay.

Cali before and after spa day and then it rained...

And then it rained and she rolled in the mud and dirt...sigh... But, you know, it was just so darn nice to have a steady, real RAIN!  I ran out and grabbed a plastic chair and sat in the unenclosed portion of the tack room and just smelled it and listened to it and watched it.  I'd seen the rain on the western side of the valley and soon it was right upon me!  I was hesitant to get in my car and drive down the mountain road to the desert because that road is dangerous when dry and I didn't want to risk driving it when it was raining heavily.  So, I sat and enjoyed the rain.  We had a huge thunderstorm here in the desert last night and grandson Ben learned two new words:  thunder and rain!  Lots of lightning, thunder, and yes, rain!

Sounds like Cali enjoyed the rain...and the mud. I'm glad you got to enjoy the rain, too.
It's been raining quite a lot here, and the temps have been dropping dramatically. Today it didn't get above 60 degrees and last night it got down to 38 degrees. Brrr!
Summer is definitely over.
