Desert Horses

Welcome to my horse blog, Desert Horses. We live in the desert southwest, near Palm Springs, CA, but board our horses up in our local mountains where it is cooler in the summer. I have 4 horses, all rescues. Here is the ranch up the mountains where the horses stay.

Sierras

Hubby and I are heading back to the Sierras this weekend. Highway 395 is open all the way to Bishop, but roads into the Sierras are closed due to snow. We do have chains for the tires, but hubby checked with the California Highway Patrol and they told us we probably wouldn't even need them. I'll be updating from the road, every night, after we upload our photos. The weather forecast is clear and sunny! YEAH! We absolutely LOVE the eastern Sierras. They are so beautiful. Updates coming, so please stop by and check back in!

Yeah, I don't think you'll need the chains either. We're on a warming trend. I drive up to Lake Tahoe while it is snowing and I just use snow tires. I haven't used chains in years. However, do bring them along, because the weather can be unpredictable. We don't have snow on the roads here in the valley anymore. One of these days I want to drive down to Bishop to watch Mule Days. Now that I've seen it on RFD-TV, it looks like a lot fun. I'm flying out to Arizona this weekend for the Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show. Happy birthday! Enjoy your vacation.
