Desert Horses

Welcome to my horse blog, Desert Horses. We live in the desert southwest, near Palm Springs, CA, but board our horses up in our local mountains where it is cooler in the summer. I have 4 horses, all rescues. Here is the ranch up the mountains where the horses stay.

Back to the Sierras~Scenic Sunday 020710

I have a 4 day weekend next weekend (Presidents' Day), so hubby and I are heading back to the eastern Sierras. He stopped at an auto parts store yesterday and bought chains for the tires, JUST IN CASE! Oh, and battery charger cables. It's down into the 20's up there every night and they seem to have intermittent snow. He's watching some kind of Highway 395 road cam daily to see if snow is accumulating on the highway, but so far, it's clear. While we won't be able to drive to some of the higher elevations, we should be able to get some nice, snow photos of the Sierras. We'll be staying in Bishop. My birthday is next Sunday, so this is my birthday present. We haven't gone anywhere since our last trip to the Sierras, in August and I really can't wait to get out and see different scenery! Sweet bday present! Bishop is one of my favorite places, well, the White Mts are rather, but I do really like Bishop. I'd be too scared to go on 395 though in the Winter! Have fun!
