horses in the snow!

The lady who boards our horses ran out into the snow with her camera and took these pictures yesterday. I woke up early in the morning and it was raining down in the desert. It rained ALL DAY! That means I had NO break all morning and a 30 minute lunch and was stuck with my kiddos all day inside the classroom! Fortunately they were busy reading on the computer and doing flashcards! I knew the mountains were getting snow as it was a VERY, VERY cold rain, which is something we don't have that often here in our desert valley. They complained about the cold ALL DAY! Many had to walk home in it. I asked Cathy to take some pics if it snowed and she sent me these photos. Yes, that's SCOUT playing in the snow! The mustangs were from Wyoming, so they LOVE the snow! And Beauty and Gigondas had snow in Washington. She said that Beauty was playing in it...bucking and rearing, so she couldn't get any pics of her with her camera! Look at Sunni! Isn't he pathetic? That's his first snow in nearly 2 years, ever since I got him. He was brought down from Michigan from UPF, so he's been in snow before, but it was 2 years ago. Doesn't he look pathetic? "MOMMY!" I'm not sure now if we'll be able to drive up to them this weekend. A friend says the CHP enforces the "chains required" signs along the highway because too many cars slide off the road into ditches and you either have to have a 4 wheel drive or chains to get up that highway. So, we'll have to wait and see what the weather is like Saturday.
