Desert Horses
Welcome to my horse blog, Desert Horses. We live in the desert southwest, near Palm Springs, CA, but board our horses up in our local mountains where it is cooler in the summer. I have 4 horses, all rescues. Here is the ranch up the mountains where the horses stay.

Guess who's back? Yup, the scrub jay!!!
Yup. I heard his cry the other afternoon and pretty soon he showed up at the bird feeder! Oh, my gosh! I was so worried about him! He's stopped by a couple of times, but seems to be off somewhere else, probably seeking a mate. HA~! Dummy! There aren't any other scrub jays that I know about down here in the desert. He would need to fly (as the crow flies) about 10 miles up to the nearby pinyon forest in our local mountains to find a mate. Apparently he doesn't know that...(he didn't get the memo...) So, yesterday I went to WINCO and bought various kinds of birdseed, critter mix (with peanuts, which were all gone this afternoon), and black oil sunflower seeds for the little guy! He seems to stop by our yard every two or three days now, but I can hear him all around the neighborhood...he's busy, busy, busy!**NOT MY PHOTOS*** (I've told you how hard it is for me to get a photo of him...I have a couple, but they are really awful pics!)

What a beaty :)
Wow, wonderful photo capture. I love it when the birds come back every year.
