Desert Horses

Welcome to my horse blog, Desert Horses. We live in the desert southwest, near Palm Springs, CA, but board our horses up in our local mountains where it is cooler in the summer. I have 4 horses, all rescues. Here is the ranch up the mountains where the horses stay.

Horse time~Finally~ with pics

So, Saturday I drove up to the ranch.  I noticed a few little rockslides along the highway up in our mountains and yesterday, during our thunderstorms, apparently there were so many that the highway was briefly closed to allow CalTrans to clear it.  We had rain, wind, and rolling thunder for a couple of hours.  The roadway is now open, but caution is advised.

But, all was quiet Saturday.  I let Gigo out into the arena as she was quietly standing by her corral gate.  She has blossomed into a really nice mare.  She leads quietly, doesn't run off, and waits by the arena gate when she is done!  What a good girl!  Here are some pics of her yesterday.
