Desert Horses

Welcome to my horse blog, Desert Horses. We live in the desert southwest, near Palm Springs, CA, but board our horses up in our local mountains where it is cooler in the summer. I have 4 horses, all rescues. Here is the ranch up the mountains where the horses stay.

A change of scenery and new students!

Yesterday was my first day with the second graders who came into my classroom.  I am now a 2/3 combo class, with 31 kiddos!  They are all ADORABLE!  They stood huddled at my door yesterday morning, with their books and notebooks, before coming into the class room.  Remember, I don't know these kids and they came from 3 different second grade classes.  Their teachers had...SIT DOWN...33 students!  ACK!~  So, I volunteered to become a combo class to relieve the extra students.  Now I have 31 students!  Anyway, they were so well behaved and quiet!  HA~not like my 3rd graders!  I gave up 6 kids to go to two other third grade classes and I think the second graders will all fit in as they are the high achieving second graders!  My mother taught second grade for years and years and loved it!  I'm so thrilled to have them!

31 kids? Wow! That's a lot of students for one teacher. Do they give you an assistant or two to help out every day?

Lovely Fall leaf photo. :)

I admire your attitude. You're a better woman than me. 2 kids would drive me nuts :)

I remember second graders as being the desired lot when I was student teaching. The sweetness level is pretty high at that age.
