Desert Horses

Welcome to my horse blog, Desert Horses. We live in the desert southwest, near Palm Springs, CA, but board our horses up in our local mountains where it is cooler in the summer. I have 4 horses, all rescues. Here is the ranch up the mountains where the horses stay.

Lesson for Lucille

My trainer came up yesterday and saddled Lucille and took her out for a ride in the round pen. She was a GOOD GIRL and easily went into her gait. she doesn't go very fast, fortunately! :-) But, she does gait! That will make it so much easier for my back. I'm also going to buy a seat pad for my back and a new pad for my saddle. So, I'll have some shopping to do!!! Here are some pics that the ranch owner took of my trainer on Lucille. Next week, she'll saddle and ride Quad. Remember, he reared up and took off sideways when she tried to ride him a few months ago, so she's been working with Quad and getting him used to a regular sized saddle and flopping stirrups! Oops! Here are the pics of Lucille's lesson.

Looks like I'm way far behind over here. Is Lucille your new horse?
She's a beauty....kind of reminds me of her, too.
Your trainer is brave. Was she injured when Quad freaked out?
Sounds like you've got lots of horse stuff going on. I should go back and try to catch up.
