Desert Horses
Welcome to my horse blog, Desert Horses. We live in the desert southwest, near Palm Springs, CA, but board our horses up in our local mountains where it is cooler in the summer. I have 4 horses, all rescues. Here is the ranch up the mountains where the horses stay.

Riding lessons!!!!
Sit down! I emailed a friend of my cousin, Valerie, and she offered to help me with riding lessons next week. She has a well-trained gaited horse that I'm going to ride. I actually have 3 weeks off for winter break, which is one more than we usually have, so I have an extra week off school. Hubby goes back to work on the 3rd (THANK GOODNESS!), so I've set up 3 lessons next week. I'm so anxious and excited...I only hope that my legs can take it and don't cramp. Also, I'm so nervous around horses if I even THINK of getting up on one, but I've decided that I need to do this. If these lessons work out, I want her to take me back to the beginning and really be critical. She knows about my back problems and my fear of riding, so I'm hoping to overcome both of these issues and get back on a horse again. It's NOW or NEVER!

How exciting! Are you riding one of the trainer's horses or one of your own?
Sounds like a great plan and a good way to start to rebuild confidence in the saddle again. Good for you for trying it!
Yay! Riding lessons are the best! I'm very excited for you!
Well hooray! That is just so awesome!
You can do this!
Don't let your nerves take control and stop you from taking this wonderful opportunity.
If you remember when I started taking lessons a year after my fall and injury on Baby Doll, I was nervous that I'd make myself sick and spent a lot of time in the bathroom, but I wanted it too bad to let it stop me, and I'm glad I didn't.
You go girl! You can do this!
It's a brand new year and good for you for making some new goals and then making them happen!
