Desert Horses
Welcome to my horse blog, Desert Horses. We live in the desert southwest, near Palm Springs, CA, but board our horses up in our local mountains where it is cooler in the summer. I have 4 horses, all rescues. Here is the ranch up the mountains where the horses stay.

Frost warning tonight for the desert~
We have a frost warning here in the desert tonight which means that the smudge pots will be utilized in the eastern edge of the Coachella Valley. While driving to school this morning, I saw a haze of smoke across from the turnoff to my school. I didn't have either of my cameras with me and I was late enough I didn't have time to stop to take photos. Maybe tomorrow morning.....in the meantime, Abby, our black cat, is currently curled up on top of the TV's DVR, where she's nice and warm...Daisy, our orange and white tabby, RAN inside and is curled up on one of the big living room chairs, on top of piles of blankets. Loki, our big white outdoor male cat, is currently asleep on an old blanket which hubby THREW out the front door earlier this afternoon (I'm not quite sure WHY he threw it outside...). Our son's Weimeraner has his head on my husband's lap on the couch, Ripley, my black lab, is sleeping on the floor at my feet (she's actually ON my foot), and our old German Shepherd is asleep next to our bed, in our bedroom. Here's a photo of Loki and Daisy from this week, along with the birds that they both LOVE to look at in the front yard!

Yep, it's cold where I am but Fuzz Dog is insisting on being outside???? I guess we have it too hot for him inside. After all he isn't called Fuzzy for nothing, lol. Roxy is curled up on her bed in front of the fire - smart pup.
Sounds warm and relaxing. Animals that are taken care of and loved are the luckiest things ever. There must be some way to get them to realize that....as I tell Hank about his cousins living in the gutters 'out there'. He's never amused. I'm just so glad he's as loved as he is.
Cute pics. And I thought we had a full house with all our critters. They sure are nice to have around the house when it's cold outside, although I have to giggle a little when you mention a frost. Our temps the last 2 nights have dipped 5F-8F degrees below zero. I don't think smudge pots would be of any help when it gets that cold. brrr!
