Desert Horses
Welcome to my horse blog, Desert Horses. We live in the desert southwest, near Palm Springs, CA, but board our horses up in our local mountains where it is cooler in the summer. I have 4 horses, all rescues. Here is the ranch up the mountains where the horses stay.

First thunderstorm on the Rim
We checked into our cabin and about two hours later we had our first thunderstorm. Thunderstorms happen almost daily up on the rim, which is about 8,000 feet above the desert floor below. Over millions of years it was lifted from below an ancient ocean to where it is today. You can find fossils of shellfish at certain areas of the rim. We just sat back and enjoyed the thunderstorm.

Well, that's one theory. Then again, I believe those fossils were deposited there as a result of The Great Flood. I suppose the only part of your statement that we disagree upon is the timing of the event. :)
Very cool that you got to experience a thunderstorm! We don't get them very often here in the Willamette Valley of NW Oregon, but when we do, they'e amazing.
