Desert Horses
Welcome to my horse blog, Desert Horses. We live in the desert southwest, near Palm Springs, CA, but board our horses up in our local mountains where it is cooler in the summer. I have 4 horses, all rescues. Here is the ranch up the mountains where the horses stay.

SNAKE by the side of the road!!!
And, I didn't run over it! In fact, he let me take these photos of him!!!! :--) Hubby and I were outside of Bishop, CA early this morning (VERY EARLY)...I wanted to get out to the Indian petroglyphs at sunrise, so we left the hotel at 6:00 a.m. and got there just in time for the morning sun to shine on them! What a difference from the previous night! This morning, they were all lit up and as we walked down the wash, we found many, many more of them!!! As we were leaving, I spotted something shiny on the road, slowed down, and looked out my window to find this handsome fellow! Good thing I was driving slowly! I am now so intrigued by Native American rock art that I want to spend my summer finding MORE of these carvings throughout the Owens Valley and desert southwest!!!!

What's with you and the snakes, eh? Love the petroglyphs.
These petroglyphs are really cool. Any ideas what the meanings are? Good shot of the snake too. I just saw one on the road a couple of days ago, but didn't get my camera out fast enough.
I'm wondering if The Snake is your Native American Totem, what with all the snakes that you come into contact with. Hmmm.
I have always enjoyed petroglyphs, too. The legend goes that the Native American spirits only allow certain people to see certain petroglyphs. Some people can hike the same canyon or rock formations for many years and may never see the same petroglyphs that another person might.
