Desert Horses
Welcome to my horse blog, Desert Horses. We live in the desert southwest, near Palm Springs, CA, but board our horses up in our local mountains where it is cooler in the summer. I have 3 horses, all rescues. Here is the ranch up the mountains where the horses stay.

And, just HOW COLD is it in Southern California?
Here's a link to photos from the Los Angeles Times! Motorists were stranded overnight on the Grapevine. Interstate 15 IS open, but is under California Highway Patrol control. There is snow in Las Vegas!!! Brrrrrrrrrr!!!

Here I am, hard at work!!!!
Hubby took these pics and I thought I'd share them. We like to sneak photos of each other, usually at the most embarassing times, but he restrained himself with these two! I usually am bending over, looking at the ground, when he snaps his camera! ACK! If you notice on the bottom photo, my gloves don't match! When I left home, I reached in and grabbed two gloves from my horse bag. Turns out, I grabbed two different ones! I spent 3 days with mismatched gloves, but it was so COLD, I didn't care! On Wednesday afternoon, I also had 2 scarves, one over my head, the other one wrapped around my neck! On this day, I had a T-shirt, turtleneck, and a vest, and my jacket!!! It was 20 degrees in Lone Pine on this morning. Snow showers are forecast for today, so I'm glad we drove home yesterday. Oh, and I should add, yes, after this I ran to the car and put on my brand new Cathcart hat with the stuff that comes down over your ears and then fastens! Hubby bought one for me in Bishop. I figured my hair would keep my ears warm! Naaaahhhhhhhhhh! Nope! No way! Him? Nah...he's from Pennsylvania. He thought it was nice and balmy that day!
