Desert Horses

Welcome to my horse blog, Desert Horses. We live in the desert southwest, near Palm Springs, CA, but board our horses up in our local mountains where it is cooler in the summer. I have 4 horses, all rescues. Here is the ranch up the mountains where the horses stay.

More Arizona photos

One afternoon we drove out to the fire tower near Black Canyon Lake.  Instead of a herd of wild horses there, we spotted a herd of cattle.  Last year it was horses.  This year it was cattle.  We did spot some horses out near the road on our way out, however.  The grandson has never seen a fire watch tower like this one before.  He kept asking, "Why can't we go up in it?"  (a 5 year old...sigh...) I tried to explain to him that the gate was locked, but he wanted to climb up its stairs RIGHT NOW!  Then we drove out to the lake and he wanted to go fishing!  Such is the world of a 5 year old!

Ahh, to be young enough to have such passion about things. I remember throwing a tantrum as a child because I wasn't allowed to climb a water tank.
