Horse bath

Why is it that as soon as we are done grooming our horses, THEY go out and roll in the dirt? It happens every time....makes 'ya wonder who's smarter, right? And, look at Sunni and Beauty. THEY aren't rolling in the dirt (this time!) Horses are funny.

Ahhhh.....spring!

Spring, spring! You lovely thing. Flowers bloom and horses play! Okay, so I'm not a poet, but these two had F-U-N this weekend just getting loose and then settling down to eat weeds! Hehehehehehe~

P is for palomino...ABC Wednesday, May 6, 2009

palomino! Cali, one of our little BLM fillies, is a palomino. She has 3 white stockings and a white blaze. She's always been very people-oriented, unlike her herd-member, Scout, who has up until now, been very people-wary. But, Cali settled right in, followed us around, and nibbled on my hair! She shoved her face into ours and if she could, she would crawl into our pockets! She's very sweet (except for the ferrier!) and everybody who meets her loves her! Our friends and family always enjoy working with her. She stands quietly for the halter and easily leads. She is a joy to work with! Here are some pics of our palomino, Cali! Paso Fino mane~~Mellow Yellow for 050409

I had to try out the new (reconditioned) Nikon D40x this weekend, so I walked around and took some pics of some of the other horses. This paso fino has a gorgeous mane, don't you think? And, his beautiful yellow coat stood out. The horses have pretty much shed out and nighttime temps are in the 40's now. I still need to brush out Beauty, however! Oh, and Scout needs a final combing, too! Cali's front half is shed out, but I also need to work on her back and back legs. Work is never done, right? Mellow Yellow for Monday, May 4, 2009.

New camera!!! Hubby surprised me Friday afternoon with my birthday/Mother's Day present! A new camera. It's a reconditioned Nikon D40x. He has a D40 and we can exchange lenses! So, DUH...of course I had to try it out yesterday and I'll be posting pics all week! I like this one for Scenic Sunday. We drove by this field and it was FULL of little yellow flowers, and the single tree out in the middle. Doesn't it look peaceful? Scenic Sunday for May 3, 2009.

This flat cloud drifted over the desert a couple of weeks ago. Look at the straight line on the bottom! Interesting, eh? While the mountains get snow, rain, and mist, we in the desert get to look up at them and see what's happening up there! Rain is forecast for tomorrow and wind today. SkyWatch Friday for May 1, 2009.
